5.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Japan’s Hachijojima

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Hachijojima Island in Japan on Sunday.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said that the quake occurred in the sea near Hachijojima Island, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The authority clarified that no warning was issued about the possibility of tsunamis.

Japan is exposed to earthquakes because of its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
