An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck Maluku Province in eastern Indonesia on Tuesday.
A statement by the Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 176 kilometers from the Seram area in the province, at a depth of 132 kilometers.
So far, there have been no reports of material damage or human losses resulting from the earthquake.
On August 10, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the langur area of Maluku Province at a depth of 154 kilometers.
Earthquakes regularly strike different parts of Indonesia due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
