Davao: A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of the Philippines on Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
According to Qatar News Agency, the quake occurred at a depth of 101 kilometers and approximately 70 kilometers from the nearest point in Davao Occidental province, as reported by the USGS.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami warning was issued. Earthquakes are an almost daily occurrence in the Philippines, which lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area prone to frequent seismic and volcanic activity due to the movement of tectonic plates.
