6.7-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off New Zealand’s Southern Coast

Wellington: An earthquake measuring 6.7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the southern coast of New Zealand Tuesday morning.

According to Qatar News Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 21 km, about 160 km west of Riverton town, located on New Zealand’s main South Island, as reported by the US Geological Survey.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage from the earthquake, and no tsunami warnings have been issued.
