Doha: Al Arabi handball team secured a significant victory over Al Wakra on Monday with a score of 31-26 in a postponed match from the third round of the Qatari Men's Handball League. This win has propelled Al Arabi to second place in the league standings, now boasting a total of 15 points, trailing behind the league leader Al Rayyan, who has 21 points. On the other hand, Al Wakra's struggles continue as they suffer their seventh consecutive defeat, leaving them in tenth place with 7 points. According to Qatar News Agency, the league's schedule has seen some disruptions due to the Qatari national team's external training camp in Serbia. This camp is part of the preparation for the 29th Men's World Championship, which is scheduled to take place in Croatia, Denmark, and Norway from January 14 to February 2. As a result, the General Handball League was suspended after the seventh round. Upcoming matches are set to continue the excitement in the league, with Al Arabi set to face Al Khor in a postponed match fro m the first round next Friday. Meanwhile, Al Khor will also compete against Al Gharafa in another postponed match from the third round on the following Monday. Last season, Al Rayyan claimed the Men's Handball League title, marking their 15th championship victory, a record in the league's history. They were followed by Al Arabi in second place and Al Duhail in third. Al Sadd has won the league 9 times, Al Duhail 5 times, Al Ahli and Al Jaish 4 times each, while Al Arabi and Qatar have each won twice. Al Gharafa and Al Wakrah have each claimed the title once.
