Awqaf Honors Young Children Winning 30th Sheikh Jassim Noble Qur’an Competition

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) on Thursday honored the young children claiming the 30th Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Noble Qur’an Competition. A total of 604 Qataris (males and females) and 1,482 residents (males and females) received financial prizes and certificates in a ceremony held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque.

According to Qatar News Agency, more than 3,000 children competed in the competition’s Young Children category, making this year’s edition the most competitive ever. Under this branch’s rules, citizens of twelve years and younger and residents aged 8 and younger participate in one of the last five Juz’ of the Noble Qur’an.

Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee Jassim Abdullah Al Ali emphasized Awqaf’s keenness to honor and celebrate the people of the Quran, to encourage them to continue to follow and progress the memorization and recitation of the Book of God.
