Kuwait city: Boursa Kuwait closed lower on Monday, with the general market index falling 52.32 points, or 0.59%, to 8,823.53 points.

According to Qatar News Agency, a total of 383.7 million shares were traded during the session through 26,326 cash transactions worth KWD 94.6 million (around $309.4 million). The main market index dropped 74.27 points, or 0.86%, to 8,592.15 points after 211.2 million shares were traded in deals valued at KWD34.2 million ($111.8 million).

The premier market index also declined, falling 50.37 points, or 0.54%, to close at 9,330.63 points, with trades worth KWD60.4 million ($197.5 million). Meanwhile, the Main 50 Index bucked the trend, rising 24.83 points, or 0.26%, to 9,552.10 points on trading volume of 169.9 million shares valued at KWD27.3 million ($89.3 million).
