Cabinet Approves Draft Law on Social Professions and Health Research Fees

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi provided an update on the proceedings.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet began the meeting by extending its congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the upcoming Eid Al-Adha, wishing him health and happiness. The Cabinet also expressed hopes for continued prosperity in Qatar under HH the Amir's leadership and extended best wishes to the Arab and Islamic nations.

The Cabinet praised HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for honoring the winners of the seventh edition of the State Appreciation Award and the State Incentive Award in science, arts, and literature. This acknowledgment was in recognition of their contributions to their respective fields and their support for national development.

During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a draft law on regulating the practice of social professions. This draft, prepared by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, aligns with Qatar's Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030. It aims to establish a legislative framework to regulate social professions by defining necessary standards and controls.

The draft law also seeks to enhance the role of private and non-profit sectors in providing social services within a legal framework that emphasizes governance and transparency. It aims to enable competent authorities to supervise and monitor these sectors effectively.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft decision by the Minister of Public Health regarding fees for licenses in health research. This decision is part of implementing Law no. 6 of 2025, which regulates health research procedures.

The meeting concluded with the Cabinet acknowledging the audited financial statements and annual report of the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) for the year ending December 31, 2025.
