Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Muayyad, received the Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, Futoshi Matsumoto, at the Commission's headquarters in the capital, Baghdad. During the meeting, according to a statement by the Commission, the enhancement of cooperation with Japanese companies that enjoy high reliability among the Iraqi people was discussed, as well as ways to develop bilateral relations in the field of communications and information technology between the two countries. The meeting also discussed supporting Iraqi institutions in the field of digital transformation and electronic payment operations, in addition to cooperation in the fields of media, communications and university education. The possibility of benefiting from Japanese expertise in the field of 5G and 6G communications networks was also discussed, as Japan has made advanced strides in this field. During the meeting, it was also emphasized that the Iraqi market is one of the promising markets in the region and it enhances the importance of opening branches for Japanese companies in Iraq, which contributes to consolidating their presence and raising the rates of trade exchange between the two countries.
