Doha: Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a QF partner university, organized an open lecture as part of its "Dean's Lecture Series," focusing on education and innovation in developing countries. During the lecture, CEO of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, discussed the role of technology and innovation in shaping the strategic vision of the foundation. He highlighted EAA's significant efforts to create alternative pathways that provide quality education to the most marginalized groups worldwide, aligning with the fourth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all." Al Sulaiti emphasized the foundation's commitment to ensuring that no child or youth is left behind in the education system, particularly the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, and refugees, whose education is threatened by poverty, conflicts, or resource shortages. He also highlighted innovative initiatives by EAA to support t raditional education, such as the Internet Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB) in India and the "Digital School" program in Zambia and Pakistan. Al Sulaiti noted the efforts to leverage innovation to enhance justice and equal opportunities in education. Al Sulaiti pointed out that they are exploring alternative ways to provide education, explaining that AI can play a crucial role in this endeavor. He explained that AI can help explore adaptive learning pathways, conduct AI-supported assessments, and identify interactive environments, particularly in resource-limited areas or those with varying educational paces. Dean of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Michael Trick, emphasized the importance of this lecture in understanding how AI works and its role in shaping the world.
