Baghdad: Iraqi air defenses engaged a drone targeting a military base at Baghdad International Airport, a military source said on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the source mentioned that the drone approached Victoria Base and fell within the perimeter of the base after air defense systems attempted to intercept it, without providing further details.

Earlier in the evening, a security source reported that shelling targeted the area around Victoria Base and the headquarters of the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service, resulting in injuries.

The source noted that it was not yet clear whether the attack was carried out using drones or rockets, adding that initial reports indicated members of the Counter Terrorism Service were among the wounded.
