Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied discussed, in a phone call today, the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, efforts to uphold the ceasefire agreement and bring humanitarian aid into the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the two presidents affirmed complete and absolute rejection of displacing Palestinians from their land and liquidating the Palestinian cause, stressing that establishing a Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantor of achieving lasting peace in the region.
During the call, the Tunisian president praised the Arab plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which was prepared by Egypt and adopted by the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo on March 4, stressing his country’s support for the plan, which allows the start of reconstruction without displacing Palestinians.
Regarding the situation in Libya and Syria, the two presidents affirmed their keenness on the stability, unity and sovereignty of the two states over the entire territory of each of them.
Regarding bilateral relations, the two presidents noted the development witnessed by relations between the two countries, stressing their keenness to enhance cooperation in various fields, especially economic and commercial. They affirmed their interest in exploring broader horizons for joint work on all issues of common interest.
