Miami: At least 11 people were injured in a possible boat explosion near Miami Beach, according to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. Authorities said emergency crews received reports of a possible explosion aboard a boat near Haulover Sandbar, a popular tourist destination.

According to Qatar News Agency, the response to the incident involved the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as well as the United States Coast Guard. Emergency teams confirmed that eleven people were transported to local hospitals for treatment, while authorities have not yet announced the official cause of the incident.

In remarks to the Miami Herald, one person who had been aboard the boat suggested that a gas leak may have caused the explosion.
