Manama, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, affirmed Bahrain's commitment to developing national industries and providing necessary support, particularly in strengthening its historical position as a global hub for natural pearls. The minister spoke as he attended the event launching the rebranding of Mattar Jewellery. Also present were Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, Saleh bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai, Advisor to His Majesty the King for Youth and Sports Affairs, ministers and officials. The minister highlighted Bahrain's global status in pearl crafting, processing, and testing, which has helped preserve this rich heritage. He added that Bahrain has long been recognised as a major centre for the pearl trade, a tradition passed down through generations and maintained to this day, aligning with economic developments to enhance Bahrain's global competitiveness. He noted that projects related to the pearl industry align with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue developing Bahrain's historic pearl industry. The minister emphasised Bahrain's supportive environment for entrepreneurship and its strong ability to attract leading companies and brands from around the world. He also noted Bahrain's ongoing efforts to grow various economic sectors through strategic plans and programmes, highlighting the importance of traditional industries like pearl production in driving economic growth.
