GCC Secretary-General: GCC System One of the Most Successful Regional Institutions in the World

Doha, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi underlined that the political positions that will be issued in the Doha Declaration are clear and agreed upon by all members.

In an interview with Qatari daily Al-Sharq published Sunday, the GCC Secretary-General expressed pride in the accomplishments made during 42 years; pointing to successive achievements, and hard work.

The Gulf Cooperation Council system is undisputedly one of the most successful regional institutions in the world, Albudaiwi stressed.

He emphasized that the GCC countries are linked by a common destiny, vision and future, and they are keen on activating unified institutions and projects so that the Gulf citizen feels the results and positive developments of reunification and the achievement of common interests.

Albudaiwi noted that the GCC countries made great efforts to reduce the escalation in Gaza Strip; praising the great role carried out by the State of Qatar in reaching a humanitarian pause and bringing aid to the Palestinian brothers.

He recalled the important roles of the GCC countries in supporting the brothers in Palestine; stressing that the GCC countries would not spare a effort at all levels to help the Palestinian brothers.

Albudaiwi believed that the GCC countries would have a major role in reaching any future solution for Palestine.

The GCC Secretary-General indicated that the Gulf Cooperation Council is keen to maintain a balanced foreign policy and not interfere in the affairs of other countries. Meanwhile, the GCC countries seek to help other countries through their development arms, and work to establish relations, whether bilaterally or through the Gulf Cooperation Council system, through strategic cooperation and partnerships with countries and regional institutions and organizations.

Albudaiwi stated that the Gulf Cooperation Council implemented in 2023 nine activities with influential countries and important regional groupings seeking to ensure the continuation of their relations and interests with the GCC countries. He pointed out that the GCC countries achieved such status and credibility through diligent work, and proved to the whole world that they are reliable and true partners aim to achieve mutual benefit and maintain stability, security and sustainable development in the region and the world.

Speaking about cybersecurity, the GCC Secretary-General pointed to coordination and cooperation between the GCC countries on cybersecurity. The last meeting was held November by the ministers concerned with cybersecurity, and many plans and programs were reached. The General Secretariat was entrusted to study these programs and plans, and to return it again to the GCC countries to take a decision. There is a wonderful coordination between the six GCC countries with regard to confronting cyber attacks, he stressed.

On Dohas hosting of the GCC ministerial meeting today, the GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi explained that Doha is hosting today the 158th GCC Ministerial Meeting, in preparation for the 44th session of the GCC Supreme Council.
