Hamad International Airport Solidifies Global Leadership with Capacity Expansion and Sustainability Initiatives

Doha: Al-Raya newspaper has highlighted Hamad International Airport’s remarkable achievement in solidifying its position as a world-leading model of a successful and sustainable global airport. This accomplishment is attributed to its state-of-the-art global operating systems, lounges, and facilities that significantly enhance its capacity, establishing it as a premier destination in the global aviation and transportation market.

According to Qatar News Agency, Hamad International Airport (HIA) has transformed Qatar into a pivotal global transit hub and a trustworthy travel destination. This transformation is largely due to recent expansions in the airport’s space and the enlargement of the national carrier’s fleet. Last year, HIA expanded its global network to encompass 197 destinations, with 55 airlines operating from the airport, underscoring Qatar’s leadership in the international transportation and travel sector.

Al-Raya has further pointed out the completion of expansions in Concourses E and D at HIA, which have boosted the airport’s capacity to 65 million passengers annually and increased the airport’s area to 850,000 square meters. The expansion prioritizes environmental sustainability and aims to enhance the overall passenger experience.

Hamad International Airport’s commitment to excellence has been recognized with several prestigious international awards for outstanding service and passenger experience. Recently, it was ranked as the highest-ranked airport in the Middle East in terms of air connectivity, offering travelers excellent connectivity options through its award-winning facilities, Al-Raya concluded.

In a separate matter concerning Arab affairs, the Peninsula newspaper reported on the renewed Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. Israel has launched intense airstrikes on the region, unilaterally breaking a nearly two-month-old ceasefire. This escalation has resulted in the martyrdom of at least 436 people, severely threatening peace and humanitarian efforts.

Qatar, which had mediated the ceasefire alongside Egypt and the US, has condemned Israel’s actions. The Qatari Cabinet, in a recent meeting, described the resumption of Israeli aggression on Gaza as a blatant challenge to international efforts supporting peace, including the ceasefire agreement.

The Peninsula has called on the international community to compel Israel to halt its offensive and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.
