Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Thursday at the Amiri Terminal at Hamad International Airport to discuss the latest regional developments in response to ongoing Iranian aggression affecting Qatar and several other countries in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE President El-Sisi expressed Egypt's complete solidarity with Qatar, highlighting its support for any actions Qatar might undertake to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the welfare of its citizens. In response, HH the Amir expressed gratitude for Egypt's supportive stance and highlighted the robust ties between the two nations.
Both leaders rejected any military actions that could potentially widen the conflict, emphasizing the necessity of bolstering regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and advocating for diplomatic solutions to ensure regional security and stability.
Additionally, HH the Amir and HE the President exchanged Eid Al Fitr greetings, wishing for continued prosperity and blessings for their respective countries and peoples.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi, and on the Egyptian side, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Chief of the President's Office Major General Ahmed Ali.
