Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has issued an Amiri decision establishing the board of directors for the Qatar Foundation for Supporting Innovation and Scientific Research. The new board is set to guide the foundation's mission to promote scientific advancement and innovative initiatives within the country.

According to Qatar News Agency, Amiri Decision No. 20 of 2026 appoints HE Dr. Hessa bint Sultan Al Jaber as the chair of the board, with Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Elmagarmid serving as the deputy chairman. The board's composition includes prominent figures such as HE Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation, and Dr. Asma bint Ali Al-Thani, Vice President for Health and Medical Sciences at Qatar University. Abdullah Hamad Al Misnad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qai, and Hamad Ali Al Khater, CEO of Qatar Airways, are also named as members.

In addition, the board will feature a representative from the Qatar Investment Authority and two experts appointed by the chair. Board members will serve four-year terms, with the option for renewal for additional terms.

The decision is effective immediately and is slated for publication in the official gazette.
