Intensive Campaigns by the Municipal Ministry on World Hygiene Day

On the occasion of World Hygiene Day, the Ministry of Municipality organized intensive cleaning campaigns on Saturday 17 September 2022 with the participation of a number of stakeholders and civil society institutions.

The World Hygiene Day falls on the third Saturday of September every year. Such campaigns serve as a part of the Ministry’s efforts to raise the level of the community awareness of the importance of maintaining public hygiene and supporting the efforts made in such field.

 

* Deep Sea and Salwa Beach Cleaning with the Assistance of Divers:

 

On the occasion of the World Hygiene Day and in cooperation with the Public Hygiene Department, the Ministry of Municipality, represented by Al-Rayan Municipality, organized a campaign to clean Salwa Beach and the depths of the sea. Such campaign has been conducted with the participation of the Sea Beach Group, the Green Future Initiative, the Qatari Red Crescent and the General Department of Coastal and Border Security at the Ministry of Interior.

 

Dozens of male and female volunteers participating in the campaign have cleaned Salwa Beach, while groups specializing in diving have cleaned the depths of the sea. The event has been attended by Mr. Jaber Hassan Al-Jaber, Director of Al-Rayyan Municipality, a number of municipal officials and employees, and representatives of the participants in the campaign.

 

 

* Cleaning Zubara Beach with the Participation of 200 Volunteers:

 

On the occasion of World Hygiene Day, the Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Hygiene Department, has organized a major campaign to clean up Zubara Beach with the participation of about 200 volunteers. Such campaign has been conducted in cooperation with the Doha Environmental Actions Project (Deep Qatar), Qatar Museums and HSBC staff.

 

During the campaign, large quantities of waste, wood and plastic cans washed away by marine currents on the beach have been collected.

 

* Hygiene Awareness Activities in the Municipality of Umm Salal:

 

Represented by the Municipality of Umm Salal, the Ministry of Municipality participated in the activities of the World Hygiene Day, corresponding to 17 September. Amid a large turnout of families and children, a major celebration has been held at Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Park in Umm Salal Ali.

 

The events have included awareness-raising shows, cultural competitions, interactive and recreational activities, and the distribution of prizes and gifts to the public. Such events have aimed to promote and develop awareness of the importance of maintaining public hygiene, and to introduce the proper behaviors that shall be followed on a daily basis to ensure public hygiene. This is in addition to highlighting the danger of making mistakes that affect public hygiene in the community.

 

* Cleaning Zikrit Beach in the Municipality of Al-Shahaniya:

 

In cooperation with the Department of Public Hygiene, the Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Municipality of Al-Shahaniya, organized a campaign to clean the Zikrit Beach on Saturday afternoon. Such campaign serves within the framework of the Ministry’s activities on the occasion of the World Hygiene Day, and as a part of the ongoing efforts to clean the beaches and rehabilitate the same to receive the public.

 

* Awareness Exhibition on Hygiene in Doha Festival City

 

As part of the World Hygiene Day events, the Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Hygiene Department, is organizing an Awareness Exhibition in Doha Festival City under the slogan (Hygiene is Everyone’s Responsibility) from18 to 20 September.

 

The exhibition aspires to raise the awareness of Doha Festival City visitors of the importance of public hygiene and the role of the public in maintaining the same through their behaviors and their adherence to Municipal laws and decisions.
