Tehran: The official visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Islamic Republic of Iran that concluded yesterday, received great attention from the Iranian media, which provided extensive coverage and live broadcast of the talks His Highness held with HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. The Iranian media highlighted the most important topics that the talks addressed, most notably in regard to Gaza and Syria.
According to Qatar News Agency, Iranian news agency (IRNA) said that Qatar’s balanced diplomacy in the region was the basis for reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, adding that Doha plays an effective role in regional issues through this diplomacy. Iran’s relations with Qatar can be defined as strategic, based on good neighborliness and common issues in the region, IRNA continued, adding that these relations have continued under the government of President Masoud Pezeshkian, which focuses particularly on neighboring countries.
IRNA noted the warm Iranian reception of HH the Amir, indicating that it is considered, in diplomatic custom, a response to the warm Qatari reception of the Iranian President in Doha. In this context, a report issued by the Iranian Al-Alam News Network pointed out that HE Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei met with HH the Amir, during which His Eminence affirmed that expanding relations with neighbors is a firm policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing his hope that the agreements reached in Tehran would be beneficial to both countries.
The report, which was included in the news bulletin, added that HH the Amir expressed his happiness at meeting with HE Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei. Another report issued by Al-Alam News Network noted that HH the Amir and HE Iranian President discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and Iran and regional developments. His Excellency President Pezeshkian stressed Islamic cooperation in the framework of supporting the people of Gaza and stopping the Israeli aggression, pointing out his country’s emphasis on achieving stability and security in the region, the unity of Syrian territory, and the right of the Syrian people to self-determination, Al-Alam added.
In turn, HH the Amir stressed strengthening relations between Tehran and Doha, adding that he is visiting Tehran at a time when the region is facing challenges that require consultation and coordination. HH the Amir also emphasized that the two sides discussed the issue of the agreement in Gaza and the Palestinian cause, which was at the top of the agenda, pointing out that the need to adhere to the ceasefire in Gaza and continued flow of aid was emphasized, Al-Alam added.
The report also noted that HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iran, Saad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud affirmed that this visit reflects the strength and solidarity of the distinguished relations between the two countries, adding that it also aims to enhance bilateral relations in the economic and trade fields. The visit of HH the Amir to Tehran was also covered by the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN), which highlighted that regional issues and economic cooperation were the focus of the talks held between the two leaders.
The network broadcasted live the press conference held by HH the Amir and HE Iranian President, pointing out that this is the first visit of HH the Amir to Tehran during the term of HE President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the development of joint cooperation between the two countries was emphasized. In a statement included in a report by IRINN, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi said that the message carried by the visit of HH the Amir to Tehran lies in the strengthening of bilateral relations.
The Iranian Al-Kawthar TV covered most of the visit of HH the Amir. In one of its reports, Al-Kawthar TV said that HH the Amir stressed the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar, especially in the trade and economic fields, adding that His Highness also emphasized the need for constructive dialogue, as well as the need for a ceasefire, referring to the efforts made by the State of Qatar in this regard.
Deputy Chairman of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, Abbas Moghtadaei, said that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Iran helps the countries of the region to rely more on their independence and continue their progress towards achieving regional security. Sabah Zangeneh, an Iranian political analyst, told Iranian Nour News website that Iranian-Qatari relations are strong, noting that consultations between the two countries will help overcome regional and international crises.
These visits focus more on bilateral issues and regional coordination, and the visit of HH the Amir to Tehran can be considered part of this context, Zangeneh added. In the same context, Hassan Hanizadeh, another Iranian analyst, told Iranian Jam-e-Jam newspaper, that HH the Amir’s visit to Tehran is His Highness’ second visit to Iran within a year, pointing out that Qatar is one of the influential countries in the GCC, and has strategic relations with Iran, while highlighting the importance of the visit due to the regional and international conditions.
