The interim Charge d’Affairs of Iraq in Manama, Abdul Salam Saddam Muhaisen, met with the Chairman of the Antiquities and Culture Authority, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, at the headquarters of the Antiquities and Culture Authority.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, “During the meeting, Muhaisen praised the historic bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, calling on the Kingdom of Bahrain to support Iraq’s candidacy for membership in one of the four seats allocated to the Arab group in the Executive Council of UNESCO for the period (2023-2027), through the elections that will be held in the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO at the organization’s headquarters in Paris in November 2023.
Muhaisen expressed the desire of the Iraqi government to open paths of cooperation and strengthen cultural and artistic relations between Iraq and Bahrain, and the possibility of holding the Iraqi Cultural Week in Bahrain.
For his part, the head of the Bahraini Antiquities and Culture Authority expressed the readiness of the Bahraini authorities to provide the required support for Iraq’s candidacy for the position, expressing his deep appreciation for authentic Iraqi art and authentic Iraqi bands.”/End
