Iraq and Turkey discuss facilitating the granting of entry visas between the two countries

Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majed Al-Lajmawi, met today, Thursday, with the head of the consular department in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nordan Altin Tash, in the building of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that in the meeting, they discussed coordination between the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and providing the necessary support for joint work on the level of facilitating the granting of entry visas between the two countries.

Ambassador Al-Lajmawi confirmed that the Embassy is working to facilitate the procedures for granting entry visas to Iraqi lands for Turkish investors and businessmen based on the authority granted to us by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani during his visit to Ankara and his meeting with businessmen and investors on March 22, 2023, noting that the Embassy did not refuse any application submitted to grant entry visas to Iraq.

He stressed that the doors of the Embassy are open to receive businessmen and investors wishing to work in Iraq, and his willingness to remove obstacles that prevent the smooth flow of economic and commercial activity, adding: There are great facilities in increasing the number of visas granted to other categories of Turkish citizens, as for workers, the issue is related to the Ministry of Labor and social affairs.

He explained that our consulate in Istanbul was instructed to continue working on granting entry visas to Iraqi lands, and that the Embassy is working to hold a seminar for Turkish businessmen and investors soon in Istanbul.

For her part, Nordan Altin Tash praised the role of the Ambassador in facilitating the procedures for granting entry visas to Turkish investors and businessmen and overcoming the obstacles they faced, stressing that there has been a qualitative leap in granting entry visas since the Ambassador assumed his position as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara.
