Baghdad: Iraqi Ministry of Transport’s General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded 30 earthquakes in February.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraq Seismic Network recorded 66 earthquakes during February, including 30 that occurred within Iraqi territory. Additionally, 31 earthquakes were recorded in Iran near the Iraqi border, and 5 tremors were detected in Turkiye.
Iraq is located near seismically active plates, making it vulnerable to the effects of earthquakes occurring in both Turkiye and Iran, particularly in its eastern and northern regions. The impact of these tremors may even extend to its central areas.
