Iraq, France Hold Joint Naval Exercise to Enhance Military Cooperation

Umm Qasr: The Iraqi Umm Qasr Naval Base Command conducted a joint naval exercise with the French Navy in Iraqi territorial waters, as part of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries and exchanging naval expertise.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraqi Navy said in a press release that the exercise involved the Iraqi patrol boat P-310, along with the French ship ‘SEINE’. The exercise focused on developing operational skills and raising the level of coordination between the two sides in implementing maritime missions.

The commander of the French ship stressed the importance of continuing joint cooperation between the naval forces of both countries.

The military attach© at the French embassy in Iraq, Eric Gomez, had previously announced the arrival of the French military ship to the Umm Qasr naval base as part of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.
