Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi announced that a joint GCC-Japan ministerial meeting between the GCC Foreign Ministers and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will convene at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh Thursday.
On the occasion, the GCC Secretary-General affirmed the strong relations between the GCC and Japan and the joint keenness to strengthen the strategic dialogue and move forward to building firm and close relations aimed at serving the common interests at all levels and in all fields, based on the strategic dialogue memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties in January 2012.
Albudaiwi added that the Ministerial Council meeting for the 157th session will be held on the same day. The meeting will discuss several reports regarding following up on the implementation of the decisions of the GCC Supreme Council issued by the 43rd summit in Riyadh, as well as the MoUs and reports submitted by the ministerial and technical committees and General Secretariat. Additionally, the meeting will discuss topics related to dialogues and strategic relations between the GCC countries and global countries and blocs, and the latest regional and international developments.
