Jordan: Jordan's foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, met with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, to discuss the latest regional developments, with a primary focus on the situation in Gaza and the West Bank. The meeting was held in Brussels during a session of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee, which is responsible for coordinating international aid to the Palestinian people. This committee is chaired by Norway and hosted by the European Union.
According to Qatar News Agency, Safadi emphasized the significance of the meeting in rallying support for the Palestinian economy, currently strained by Israel's refusal to transfer customs clearance revenues to the Palestinian Authority. The Jordanian foreign minister cautioned against the ongoing illegal measures by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, highlighting the detrimental impact on the prospects for a just peace.
Safadi commended Norway for its efforts and positions aimed at achieving a just peace based on a two-state solution. He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia's vital role in organizing last year's ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and in garnering international backing for it.
The discussions between Jordan and Norway also covered the potential for restoring regional stability following a cease-fire agreement between the United States and Iran. Additionally, they reviewed the situation in Lebanon post-cease-fire and the efforts to ensure its implementation.
