Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins announced that he and his government will resign later this week as his relations with government's multi-party coalition were said to have deteriorated.
"This Thursday I will submit the resignation of myself and this cabinet to the president," Karins told a press conference on Monday.
Karins said that his partners in the government "are blocking work for welfare and economic growth".
He added that the New Unity party intends to choose its candidate for prime minister on Wednesday.
