BEIRUT: Military units were deployed in the town of Yaroun – Bint Jbeil in the central sector, the city of Marouhin and Birkat Richa – Tyre in the western sector, and other border areas in the southern Litani region of south Lebanon after the Israeli occupation army withdrew from them, in coordination with the five-member committee supervising the ceasefire agreement.
According to Qatar News Agency, the army said in a statement that it is following up on citizens in the border towns, and is continuing close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon – UNIFIL regarding the situation in the mentioned area, within the framework of Resolution 1701.
The 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation army forces from the border villages and towns in southern Lebanon ended last Sunday, in implementation of the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, but the White House recently announced the extension of this agreement until February 18.
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry called on the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to pressure the Israeli entity to withdraw immediately and unconditionally from all occupied territories so that the armed forces can complete the extension of their authority over southern Lebanese territories.
