Beirut: The return of the displaced Lebanese people to their villages and towns in southern Lebanon continued under the escort of the Lebanese army, amid random gunfire by the Israeli occupation forces.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Israeli occupation army opened fire at the Lebanese army personnel stationed in the Al Mafilha area, west of Mays Al Jabal, with no injuries reported. Despite the volatile situation, the displaced people returned to Houla town following the deployment of the Lebanese army to several of its neighborhoods to secure their return.
The death toll from the Israeli assault on returnees has surged to 22, which includes a personnel from the Lebanese army, while 124 individuals have been wounded, among them nine children, a paramedic, and a soldier. These incidents mark the expiration of the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of the Israeli entity from the border villages and towns in southern Lebanon, a stipulation outlined in the ceasefire deal reached on November 27, 2024.
