Lebanese President Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Relations with Algeria

Beirut: Lebanon’s President, Joseph Aoun, emphasized that he intends to advance the Lebanese-Algerian ties in all fields. Throughout his meeting Sunday with Algerian Presidential Envoy and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, Aoun noted the positions taken by Algeria in the United Nations Security Council to stand in support of Lebanon, especially during the recent Israeli aggression.

According to Qatar News Agency, Aoun highlighted that strengthening ties with Lebanon in a range of fields is of great importance. For his part, Attaf affirmed that Algeria stands in support of Lebanon, calling for advancing economic ties and reinvigorating the work of the joint committee of Lebanese and Algerian businessmen.

Following the meeting, Attaf added that Lebanon is going through a critical phase in its history, one that involves strengthening institutions, revitalizing the economy, and restoring security, stressing that throughout these stages, Algeria will remain steadfastly by Lebanon’s side. In addition, Attaf noted that they discussed upcoming Arab events and agreed on the importance of constant coordination and consultation between Algeria and Lebanon to ensure the success of these efforts.
