Magnitude 5 Earthquake Strikes Southeastern El Salvador

San Salvador: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck southeastern El Salvador today.

According to Qatar News Agency, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported that the epicenter of the quake occurred 92 kilometers southeast of San Salvador, at a depth of 56 kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

It is noteworthy that a devastating earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck El Salvador in 2001, killing hundreds and injuring and displacing thousands.
