The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received on Monday the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and her accompanying delegation.
The discussions centered, according to a government statement, on the constitutional and financial rights of the Kurdistan Region in the federal general budget law, as the Prime Minister expressed his regret about the presence of parties seeking to deal with the region unfairly and outside the scope of the provisions of the budget law, despite the fact that the region’s negotiating delegation presented to the authorities concerned in the federal government are accurate data and information based on legal and constitutional documents.
The two sides agreed on the importance of resolving problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, under the umbrella of the constitution and through dialogue and negotiations.
In another context of the meeting, the recent events in Kirkuk Governorate were discussed, with an emphasis on the necessity of normalizing the situation, the return of the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and maintaining the security and stability of the governorate.
