MCIT and KAHRAMAA Unveil Enhanced Tarsheed Smart EV Charging Platform

Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and KAHRAMAA have launched the second release of the Tarsheed Smart Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Platform as part of the TASMU Smart Qatar Program and the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency ‘Tarsheed’. This development supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030 by promoting the use of electric vehicles and establishing smart infrastructure.

According to Qatar News Agency, the second release of the Tarsheed platform introduces several new features, including a Chatbot for 24/7 real-time user support and a new online portal for service providers to manage EV charging stations more efficiently. The Central Management Portal has also been updated to improve notification management and real-time status monitoring.

Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, expressed pride in partnering with KAHRAMAA to advance Qatar’s leadership in sustainable transportation. Al Mansoori highlighted the commitment to providing eco-friendly solutions and creating a sustainable future, noting that over 135 EV charging stations have been brought online, with the goal of reaching 1,000 stations by 2030.

KAHRAMAA’s Manager of Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, Eng. Rashid Al Rahimi, emphasized the collaboration’s role in Qatar’s sustainability and digital transformation goals as outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030. Al Rahimi stated that enhancing the user experience and operational efficiency of the EV charging infrastructure supports the transition to electric vehicles while promoting environmentally responsible practices.

In charge of the Road Affairs Department at the Ministry of Transport (MOT), Najla Al Jaber, voiced support for the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions in Qatar. Al Jaber noted that the integration of the Tarsheed platform aligns with the Ministry’s strategic plans to develop a modern transportation network that supports national sustainability efforts and enhances user convenience and accessibility.

Since its launch in December 2023, the platform has connected over 135 charging points across Qatar and recorded more than 3,561 active transactions.
