Ministry of Social Development and Family Holds Gulf Family Day Forum -1-

The forum featured discussion papers within a series of dialogue sessions focusing on the important axis of the forum, which is activating the slogan " Family is The Treasure of a Nation" from the perspective of countries and exchanging ideas and experiences on this concept. Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family of Qatar Dhabia Hamdan Al Maqbali said that the forum seeks to achieve the required integration and enhance the status of the Gulf family and its developmental role by involving those interested in social affairs, universities, research centers and centers concerned with the family, in addition to the most prominent figures at the local and Gulf levels, and experts in Gulf and international organizations concerned with the family to discuss future opportunities and challenges for the family, as well as the impact of family values in preparing a more effective generation to face the future challenges of the Gulf family. She stressed the importa nce of benefiting from the opinions and discussions of participating experts and specialists so that the forum can create a positive movement at the level of the family and its members and achieve its goals in integrating efforts at all levels. For her part, acting secretary-general of the supreme council for family affairs in the State of Kuwait Iman Saleh Al Enezi stressed that the Gulf family is facing modern development that represents a challenge to the cohesion of the family and its traditional function as a source of social and educational support. She pointed out that the most important of these challenges are globalization and cultural changes represented by the influence of Western values on Gulf customs and traditions, which led to changes in lifestyle, family values, economic changes and rising costs of living. For her part, Executive Director of the Medeem initiative in the United Arab Emirates Mona Majid Mohammed Al Mansouri addressed the UAE's initiative in the Emirati Family Growth Support Program through the Medeem initiative, which was launched within the framework of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy. During the session held on the sidelines of the Gulf Family Day Forum, head of the family development department, department of centers, family and childhood development at the ministry of social development in the Kingdom of Bahrain Maryam Hassan Yousef, and head of the womens committee at the family affairs council in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Lana bint Hassan bin Saad bin Saeed reviewed the importance of the initiatives and qualitative efforts made for the sake of family development, confronting all challenges and finding appropriate solutions, in addition to empowering family groups. Assistant director of the family development department at the general directorate of social development in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman Dr. Kafala bint Hamoud bin Hamad Al Amriya referred to the family development services and programs in the Sultanate and the empowerment of the most needy groups to participate in building the nation and providing social services in a fair manner and with high quality to various segments of society during the stages of their lives and creating effective partnerships between the government, civil society and the private sector.
