Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has announced significant amendments to the Acceleration System’s terms and conditions. Under these new amendments, students of all nationalities who achieve the required grades in the first round of exams will now be eligible to take the grade skipping test in the second round of the same academic year.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Acceleration System is designed as a provision for gifted students to advance to higher grades based on a predetermined schedule that specifies allowable grades. The recent modifications also involve changes to the percentages required for both applying and passing the test. These criteria will vary between daytime education students and adult/home education students, as well as between Qatari and non-Qatari students.
Furthermore, the MOEHE has clarified that the promotion rules do not apply to students undertaking the Acceleration System test. Additionally, the system excludes students classified in the support category (third level). Students are permitted to apply for the test only once per academic stage, in alignment with the approved schedule.
A joint team from the MOEHE’s Student Evaluation Department and Educational Guidance Department will centrally prepare the test questions. The specific dates for applying for the acceleration tests are set to be announced at a later time.
