Moroccan Interior Ministry: The number of earthquake victims has risen to 2,681 dead and 2,501 injured

The Moroccan Ministry of Interior announced that the number of victims of the violent earthquake that struck a number of cities and provinces of the country last Friday evening had risen to 2,681 people.

The Ministry said in a statement that the number of wounded people reached 2,501 people and that the number of deaths reached 1,591 in Al Haouz Province, and 809 in Taroudant Province.

It added that no new deaths were recorded in the cities and provinces of Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Marrakesh, Azilal, Agadir Edoutnan, Greater Casablanca, Youssoufia and Tinghir.

It continued, “The public authorities are continuing their efforts to rescue and evacuate the wounded, take care of the injured victims, and mobilize all necessary capabilities to address the effects of this painful tragedy.”
