Geneva, MP Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, delivered a speech at the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly, where he highlighted Bahrain's commitment to peaceful coexistence. He emphasised Bahrain's progress in implementing the "Manama Declaration," which promotes tolerance and understanding across communities. Salman praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's call for an international peace conference in the Middle East, made during the 33rd Arab Summit in Bahrain. He noted that this initiative underscores Bahrain's dedication to implement a just resolution for the Palestinian issue and establish an independent Palestinian state. He also highlighted the need for an international agreement to criminalise hate speech, pointing out its importance in fostering global peace and tolerance. Salman pointed to Bahrain's growing partnerships, including the recent agreement between the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the IPU, aimed at enhancing efforts to promote harmony and peaceful dialogue. In his conclusion, Salman urged continued international cooperation to support peace initiatives and affirmed Bahrain's role as a strong advocate for dialogue and coexistence on the global stage.
