National Security Service: The arrest of a network promoting counterfeit currency in Salah al-Din

The National Security Service announced the arrest of a network promoting counterfeit currency. The Service said in a statement, "Our Service's detachments were able to arrest a network specialized in promoting counterfeit currency. After obtaining judicial approvals, and in a qualitative operation, the network was lured from Baghdad Governorate to Salah al-Din Governorate red-handed. Three people, one of them a woman, were arrested in their possession of an amount of 8 million Iraqi dinars (five million in denominations of 25,000 and three million in denominations of 10,000) of counterfeit currency that they intended to distribute in the markets. The seized items were confiscated and the accused were referred to the competent authorities to complete the investigations. The statement added, "The accused were also arrested in the Al-A'dhamiyah area in Baghdad, and an amount of 20 million counterfeit Iraqi dinars in denominations of 25,000 thousand dinars was seized in their possession... The seized items w ere duly handed over to the Investigations Directorate and the accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to receive their just punishment."
