NATO Secretary General Pledges ‘Unwavering’ Support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Territorial Integrity

Sarajevo: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte today pledged the alliance’s “unwavering” support for Bosnia’s territorial integrity after a series of secessionist moves by Bosnian Serbs. “Three decades after the Dayton Peace Agreement, I can tell you: NATO remains strongly committed to the stability of this region and the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Rutte said after a meeting with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite presidency, adding: “We will not allow the hard-won peace to be jeopardized.” Rutte considered any moves that undermine the agreement, the constitutional order or national institutions unacceptable, adding: “Provocative speeches and actions are dangerous, they pose a direct threat to stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

According to Qatar News Agency, Bosnia’s Constitutional Court on Saturday temporarily suspended separatist laws passed by the Bosnian Serb parliament and signed by the region’s leader, Milorad Dodik, and considered them an attack on the constitutional order.
