Doha: The State of Qatar has achieved notable human rights progress in recent years manifested in many initiatives and accomplishments across sectors of health, education, labor, social security, and sustainable development, said HE National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Chairperson Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah.
According to Qatar News Agency, speaking during the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Qatar before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Her Excellency highlighted the State of Qatar’s special focus on vulnerable groups, showcasing the nation’s deep commitment to the well-being of all citizens and residents.
HE Al Attiyah noted that several draft laws are currently under study by relevant state authorities. These laws represent significant steps toward further strengthening and protecting human rights within the State.
Her Excellency reiterated the NHRC’s dedication to continuously applying human rights principles to all under Qatar’s legal jurisdiction, expressing the nation’s determination to continue advancing on this path.
