A team from the National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) visited several rehabilitation and detention centres to examine the conditions of inmates and ensure their religious freedom rights are met during the commemoration of Ashura.
The team made visits to Jau Correction and Rehabilitation Centre, the pre-trial detention center in the dry dock, and Isa Town Women’s Detention Centre.
As part of the inspection, the delegation was briefed about the organisational measures adopted by the rehabilitation centers to allow inmates to exercise their religious freedom, as well as examining buildings and administrative services, interviewing inmate about their treatment and health conditions.
