Today, Wednesday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for Water, during which the position of strategic water storage in the country was reviewed, and release rates from neighboring countries, as well as follow-up on the implementation of previous directives issued by the Prime Minister, and the most prominent obstacles facing the implementation of plans designed to face the water crisis, and the development of rapid solutions.
Al-Sudani directed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts with neighboring countries to address the water file, in a way that guarantees Iraq's rights in accordance with international agreements that guarantee the right of each country to water quotas.
He also directed to mobilize efforts and provide all facilities in preparation for the next agricultural season, as well as to overcome obstacles in front of departments and institutions in the aspect related to the transition to the use of modern and smart irrigation technologies, and to emphasize confronting some of those who raise concerns, by conveying the truth through professional and responsible media and legal contexts.
The meeting discussed the topics on the agenda and took a number of decisions and recommendations that must be implemented.
