Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye Hakan Fidan during his visit to the country. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing regional developments.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions emphasized the importance of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with both sides exploring ways to ease tensions and enhance regional security and stability. A significant point of discussion was the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route.
The meeting also covered the situation in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon. Both Qatar and Turkiye expressed their support for Pakistan's mediation efforts in the region and hoped these efforts would contribute to resolving ongoing crises.
The two foreign ministers stressed their opposition to unilateral actions that could endanger the security of the Strait of Hormuz or disrupt international navigation. They condemned attacks on commercial vessels or any threats to maritime security, describing such actions as violations of international law that pose risks to global trade and supply chains.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance coordination and consultation, building on the strategic partnership between Qatar and Turkiye to support regional security and stability.
