Putin: Russian army and people were not with rebels’ side

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the Russian army and people were not with “the rebels” during their armed operation last Saturday.

RT website quoted Putin as saying during a ceremony honoring the military and security personnel who contributed to thwarting the armed rebellion in Russia that was carried out by Wagner Group, “During the rebellion attempt, it was not necessary to use the combat units involved in the special military operation area.”

He added “The true defenders in difficult times stood in the way of turmoil that could have led to chaos”, Putin noted.

“The pilots who died during the armed rebellion did their duty with honor”, Putin pointed out.

The President thanked all members of the Russian armed forces, law enforcement, agencies and special security services for their courage, valor and loyalty to the Russian people.

“Your determination and courage in strengthening the cohesion of society had a decisive role in thwarting the rebellion and preventing harm to civilians, as you showed through your work the duty for the fate and future of the homeland”, Putin said.
