Doha: Qatar Airways announced its expansion in the Americas with the launch of new flight operations to Caracas, Venezuela, and Bogota, Colombia, commencing from July 22, 2026. The airline stated that this development marks a significant milestone, as Qatar Airways will become the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela, and the first airline to operate flights from West Asia to Caracas and Bogota.
According to Qatar News Agency, the expansion highlights Qatar Airways' commitment, announced in 2025, to enhancing global connectivity for the region. The airline will operate two weekly flights to Caracas and Bogota, thereby increasing connectivity to and from the Americas. The flight schedule is designed to provide smooth onward connections through Hamad International Airport to key markets such as Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates, offering passengers greater flexibility and seamless transfer options across the airline's global network.
The addition of Caracas and Bogota marks the 15th and 16th destinations in the Americas served by Qatar Airways. The airline began serving South America in 2010 with its inaugural flight to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Qatar Airways is furthering global connectivity by rebuilding its network to over 160 global destinations this summer.
