DOHA: In its first weekly meeting of 2025, the Qatari Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, approved several significant initiatives aimed at bolstering the country’s cultural and international engagement. The meeting took place at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet endorsed a draft law concerning artists and artistic professions, an initiative prepared by the Ministry of Culture aligned with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy. The draft law seeks to promote sustainability in artistic creativity by regulating the practice of artistic professions, underscoring the state’s commitment to fostering creative sectors.
The Cabinet also moved forward with plans to ratify a memorandum of understanding for economic, trade, and technical cooperation with the Republic of Colombia, highlighting Qatar’s focus on strengthening bilateral relations in various sectors.
Further, the Cabinet approved a draft agreement for hosting the regional conference on the preservation of documentary heritage in Doha in 2025, in collaboration with UNESCO. Additionally, agreements were sanctioned to eliminate visa requirements for diplomatic, special, and service passport holders between Qatar and Rwanda, as well as a memorandum of understanding with the UAE on cooperation in labor and human resources development.
The Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding in social development and family matters with Jordan and a cooperation agreement between the municipalities of Dhaayen in Qatar and El Bayadh in Algeria, signaling Qatar’s efforts to enhance regional cooperation.
In conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed reports on government job localization, participation in the 101st session of the Arab Labor Organization’s Board of Directors, and outcomes from the Saudi Agricultural Exhibition, making necessary decisions to further these initiatives.
