Qatar Engages in COP31 Preparatory Talks in Antakya

Antakya: The State of Qatar participated in the preparatory meeting for the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Antakya, Hatay, Turkiye. This meeting served as a precursor to the main conference scheduled to take place in Antalya next November.

According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Eng. Ahmad Mohammed Al Sada, led the Qatari delegation. The meeting saw participation from representatives of several countries and international organizations and was conducted under the theme "resilient and sustainable cities."

The conference featured specialized panel discussions centered on climate action in urban settings, discussing topics such as enhancing city resilience to climate change impacts, the energy transition, and pathways for low-carbon development.

Eng. Ahmad Mohammed Al Sada took part in a high-level roundtable where participants shared insights on their respective countries' efforts to build capacity in tackling climate change. He emphasized Qatar's proactive role in international climate initiatives during the preparation phase for COP31.
