Doha: Qatar Media Corporation has announced the launch of QBC, a new economic television channel, marking a significant development as the first of its kind in Qatar. The channel will broadcast in 4K resolution and will be accompanied by digital platforms designed to provide comprehensive economic coverage, linking Qatar to international markets and audiences.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Media Corporation, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, stated that the launch is aligned with the nation's aspirations to bolster the national economy and showcase its advancements across essential sectors. He emphasized that QBC will mirror developments in the Qatari, Gulf, and global economies. Sheikh Khalid highlighted that media investment is crucial for sustainable development for future generations and that the channel's launch represents a strategic step in the Corporation's plan to broaden its array of specialised channels.
Acting Director of QBC, Issa Abdullah Al Hetmi, announced that the channel's test transmission is set to commence on May 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Al Hetmi detailed that QBC will offer an extensive selection of economic programs and specialised news bulletins, featuring real-time reports and in-depth analysis across key sectors such as energy, finance, technology, stock markets, and real estate. This variety aims to establish credibility with investors, decision-makers, and the general public.
Al Hetmi further stated that the establishment of QBC represents a significant milestone in enhancing business and economic journalism. He mentioned that the channel has assembled a select team of experts, established a network of correspondents in major global financial centers, and utilized the latest broadcast technologies to deliver precise and exclusive content.
