The State of Qatar ranked 18th, according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022, which is published annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, among 64 countries, most of which are developed countries.

The competitiveness assessment was based on a set of data and indicators that were provided at the local level, in addition to a survey’s result of a sample of company managers and businessmen regarding the business environment and the competitiveness of the Qatari economy.

The areas in which the State of Qatar ranked high in the report included: The economic performance rank (9), government efficiency rank (7), and the business sector efficiency rank (14). Moreover, it achieved high ranking in the infrastructure area and therefore it ranked 38th.
