Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) hosted the Qatar-Uzbekistan Business Meeting on Monday, attended by QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari and Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Shokhrukh Gulamov, alongside several business owners from both countries. According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting examined trade and economic relations between Qatar and Uzbekistan, with a particular focus on sectors such as trade and investment, industry, healthcare, agriculture and food, energy, infrastructure, tourism and hospitality, sports training, and real estate. The discussions also highlighted the potential for establishing joint ventures and business alliances. Al Kuwari emphasized the importance of the meeting in fostering cooperative relations between the business sectors of both nations. He noted Qatar's eagerness to enhance ties with Uzbekistan, which are evident in mutual visits and the signing of various agreements and MoUs. However, he pointed out that the current trad e exchange is below expectations and stressed the private sector's role in boosting trade through joint ventures and investments. Al Kuwari encouraged Uzbek companies to invest in Qatar and form alliances with Qatari firms, while urging Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Uzbekistan. He highlighted Qatar's world-class infrastructure, favorable legislation, and investment incentives as attractive factors for foreign investors. Gulamov, on his part, described Qatar as a global investment platform and expressed Uzbekistan's keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Qatari business sectors. He mentioned that the Uzbek delegation comprised 40 companies from various sectors aiming to forge partnerships and business deals with Qatari companies. Gulamov underlined the significance of such meetings in strengthening ties between private sectors and providing opportunities for joint projects. He indicated that increased cooperation could significantly boost bilateral trade, given the wealth of available in vestment opportunities. QC Board Member Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Emadi reiterated the Chamber's commitment to assisting Uzbek companies interested in the Qatari market and highlighted Qatari business owners' interest in prospects available in Uzbekistan across different sectors.
